Abstract

Background. Increasing quality requirements for modern education demand a higher efficiency of the process of vocational training at higher schools. Due to the fact that health is the key to successful training and future professional activity, sci-entists are focused on ways of introducing students to physical training as a prio¬rity means of health promotion. The goal of the research is to determine students’ moti-vation to physical training at universities.
Materials and methods. Determining the motivation of students to physical trai-ning classes was carried out through the research work, which included the fol¬lowing empiric methods: observation, survey, questionnaires. Given to students, the questionnaire revealed the internal state of motivation to physical training classes. The results of the questionnaire were determined by calculating the pair rank correlation.
Results. The study of intrinsic motivation assessment allows to make a conclusion about an insufficient degree of development of motivation to physical training in most students (the majority of respondents had a low correlation strength) and a lack of understanding of the relationship between the practice and the promotion of health.
Conclusions. To increase the motivation of students to physical training the educational process within the university discipline should be transformed. It is necessary to get students familiar with basic motives that encourage an increase of interest to the training, and on their basis to form the requirement and motivational sphere of each student towards physical education.
